Hungry Haven Canteen
WELCOME TO THE HUNGRY HAVEN CANTEEN
Our canteen is run by the P&C Association and managed by two co-ordinators who are supported by an amazing team of parent and grandparent volunteers. We are open for recess and lunch each school day.
At the Hungry Haven our aim is simple.....
We want to fill our kids' tummies with fresh, home cooked goodness. We like to minimise the amount of pre-packaged food and offer tasty alternatives that our kids love to eat.
Our philosophy on food is also simple…
Our menu offers recess and lunch options that are wholesome, of high nutritional value and homemade where possible. These meals are designed to fill our children's stomachs and give sustained energy for concentration throughout the day.
A fresh, homemade snack is available everyday. These snacks are healthy, filling and change daily. Our snacks range from 20c to $2 and include:

For a snack, we offer to slinky our students own apple for free to encourage them to have fun eating fruit and make them feel comfortable coming to the Canteen.

OUR LUNCH MENU
For our core menu items, we have undergone an enormous shift from pre- packaged, frozen items to a majority of homemade products.
- Our pizzas and fried rice are made fresh daily
- Hamburger patties are now made in-house. This has enabled a reduction in fat, salt, sugar and additives in all these items.
- Salads are made fresh to order so our kids can select their own variety of ingredients. This encourages them to create their own combination and order a healthy salad option.
- We have introduced our ‘Stack your own Sandwich' ‘Build your own Burger', where our kids can choose their own fillings. Both the sandwiches and burgers are made to order on fresh bread and rolls each day.

OVER THE COUNTER SNACKS
For treats, along with the traditional ice-creams, such as Paddle Pops and Mini Gelato Cups, we offer a range of healthy frozen snacks. These include frozen orange wedges, homemade Icypops packed with chunks of fresh fruit and 100% juice, mini flavoured milk cups and fruit frappes.
We love to be involved with and support school activities whenever we can. Normally, you can smell the sausage sizzle as you watch your kids run the annual Cross Country and to celebrate Book Week Parade in 2017 we turned the Hungry Haven into Willy Wonka's Factory for one day only!
HOW DO I PLACE AN ORDER?
We request that all recess and lunch orders are placed via Flexischools (www.flexischools.com.au). It is very easy to set up an account and place your first order. Just remember that orders need to be placed by 9am on the day of the order as the cut off time is 9am sharp. Special event days will have their own specific cut off time that will be advised in any communication about the day.
We love that our kids are able eat fresh, tasty lunches and recess treats every day but making yummy, home cooked goodness takes time to prepare. We would love the support of some extra pairs of helping hands from volunteers in our canteen.
We have several regular spots on our roster that are currently vacant.
We are hoping that you have a couple of hours a month to help us in the canteen, even just once a term would be really appreciated.
Each day there are two shifts being the morning shift (9am – 11.30am) and the afternoon shift (11.00am – 2.30pm).
If you'd like to help, please fill in your availability on the form below. Once complete, you can either email us the completed form at firstname.lastname@example.org or place the form in the red letterbox next to the door of the canteen or if you would prefer you can drop in, say hello and pick a day on the Term Roster that is on display.

Our canteen is a happy, friendly place where you get a chance to meet other parents and have a chat as we make our delicious lunches and treats for our kids. We promise that your kids really do love seeing you behind our counter at recess or lunch.
We look forward to you joining us!
